Bio

Kit Pribble received her Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Berkeley in 2022. Her area of specialization is Russian Romantic prose, with a focus on the way prose forms in the 1830s and 40s were shaped by influences from the visual, musical, and dramatic arts. She also specializes in second language acquisition with an emphasis on digital learning technologies and AI applications in the Russian language classroom. She has published and presented papers on Mikhail Lermontov, Nikolai Gogol, Fyodor Dostoevsky, comparative Romantic poetics, digital social reading in L2 pedagogy, and AI chatbots in the language classroom. Other research interests include Slavic folklore, the literature of the Caucasus, and intersections between Russian realism and the American Southern Gothic tradition. In 2022 Kit completed a three-month Fellowship as a guest of the Modell Romantik research group at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany. She has also lived and worked in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kazan’.
