- BBC Russia (Русская служба BBC) is the Russian-language arm of the BBC.
- Novaya Gazeta is a Nobel-Prize-winning independent newspaper that frequently expresses views in opposition to the Russian government.
- Meduza is an independent news website based in Riga that frequently expresses views in opposition to the Russian government; available in both Russian and English.
- Izvestia is the national newspaper of Russia; frequently represents the views of the Russian government.
- Kommersant is the main business and finance newspaper in Russia.
Russian-Language Podcasts & Radio
- Radio Garden allows you to stream live FM radio from all over the world.
- Chto sluchilos’ (Что случилось) is Meduza’s daily news podcast.
- Signal (Сигнал), also a Meduza podcast, offers 10-minute meta-analyses of current media discourse.
- Chto eto bylo (Что это было) is BBC Russia’s daily news podcast.
Russian-Language YouTube Channels
- Tamara Eidelman is a Russian historian and pedagogue whose YouTube channel includes playlists on a wide range of topics, including Russian literature and 20th-century Russian history.
- Yuri Dud is a journalist and YouTuber whose channel (вДудь) includes interviews with prominent public figures and opposition leaders in Russia. All of the videos on this channel have English subtitles.
- Tell Gordeeva (Скажи Гордеевой) is the YouTube channel of Katerina Gordeeva, a Russian journalist and author who interviews public figures, opposition leaders, and writers.
Additional Language Resources & Listening Practice
- The Be Fluent in Russian YouTube channel has great videos on grammar and pronunciation, as well as short, simple stories narrated at a variety of Russian levels (A1 – beginner; A2 – upper beginner; B1 – intermediate; B2 – advanced).
- The In Russian From Afar YouTube channel also has great short videos on a variety of topics for Russian learners.
- The Pravoe Polusharie Introverta YouTube channel has fun, short videos on various pop culture topics. These videos are intended for advanced/native speakers of Russian and are not modulated for learners.

- The Eurasian Knot podcast features in-depth interviews with scholars on a wide variety of topics pertaining to Eurasia and the former USSR.
